So what is a Police and Crime Commissioner and what will it mean for you?
The Government has introduced legislation to replace Police Authorities in an attempt to democratise the control of the police. This process will change the face of policing forever by handing control to you through the PCC. You will have the power to decide what you want from the police. I want to help you shape the future of policing in the West Midlands without political interference.
With just months until the PCC election it is still unclear exactly how the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) will work in practice. However, we do know that the majority of PCC work will be decided at a local level, so in the West Midlands we'll have a fantastic opportunity to develop policy which genuinely work best for you, your communities, and businesses.
As your PCC I will be answerable to you and, to a panel of 12 people on the Police and Crime Panel (PCP). Here is what I'd be expected to do as a minimum:
